Eradicating what not need be.

Shalom.

There is a story of a king in our Jewish history. A king who was no less than despicable, and of which no words can describe. However there was change, a turn for the better. When at the edge of the sword, at the point of being put to death… he took his chances. Perhaps it was somewhat insincere at the beginning, but is willing if we are.

His life was spared, he was given the chance to live once again. Is this not what we all want?

When at the point of death, rather it be by the sword, or the loss of the soul… we must consider. Why is it that we wait for the moment of judgement to ask for forgiveness? For what good comes of it. Shouldn’t we analyze our every action, word and rationalization. We seem to go about living our lives in such a way that is destroying everyone and everything around us. This is being done both in the direct and indirect.

How are we to know the difference? After all the ways of man seem to slip into what we know as life. We assimilate constantly like water overtime changing the form of a rock. As we live our lives taking care of the everyday affairs, our awareness becomes depleted. Because of this, the very things that are less than satisfactory seep  into our lives… like the coldness of winter through an open door. We don’t recognize it and before long, it is second nature.

A child first enters this world knowing nothing of his own, and so he grows with sight and hearing. Until the child is old enough like our father Abraham, he adapts to the ways of the family and culture that surrounds. Unless we take it upon ourselves to tear down the walls that keep out what is good, such as the Torah… we are doomed. The Jewish scriptures tell us that man does what seems to be pleasing and right. This does not mean that his ways are correct, but he walks in the ways that are pleasing and therefor he is rationalizing. This happens because we have lost our way.

The time has come, and why is this the time… because so many of us have failed to realize it untill now.
